Casino night draws crowd
You don't have to be 21 to gamble at OU.
Casino Night was held on April 15 in the cafeteria.
There was one coupon placed inside all Ottawa University students campus mailboxes. If the student brought this casino night coupon they would receive an extra $500 chips to play games.
"I didn't think it was going to be fun at first but the people that put it all together made it easy to play the games and there was also a lot of positive energy in the room," Margee Hill sophomore majoring in psychology, said.
Hill also said that she won a $10 coupon to Kentucky Fried Chicken, but she played the role of a good buddy and gave it to her friend Kelly Fraizer.
"It was super fun; I learned how to play poker and black jack for the first time ever," said Kelly Fraizer, junior, biology major.
Frazier also added, "it was a fantastic event because it was a good chance to bond with your friends and win some cool gifts in the process. Playing one game I won a movie at casino night."
Consensus amongst students was that Casino Night was a success.
"It was pretty cool because I made a ton of money which were actually chips. I also won several prizes, including some Uno cards and a Sonic gift card." Matthew Merrill, freshman, said.
Casino Night was full of prizes for the students to win. The grand prize that students were able to win was a Nintendo Wii and also a digital camera.
Kendal Bruce, sophomore took home the Wii, while Kersten Kastler, freshman, won the camera.
"It was awesome, I couldn't believe I actually won," Bruce said, "I feel I redeemed myself from last year's Casino Night when I didn't win anything."
