Phillips: Don’t pretend to something without believing, act hypocritically
In this world, we are all sinners. This I know. However, the one thing that drives me up a wall is people who claim to be Christians, yet do not show it.
I'm not talking about simply sinning here and there, that is expected by God because we were all born into sin. What I am talking about is the constant offender.
The person who does the same thing all the time to sin yet does not repent.
This is the same person who claims they are a Christian, only to see picture of them on
Facebook the next day of them partying up yet again.
This is where I become critical. Obviously, no one is perfect. We're all far from perfection. Nonetheless, if someone claims they are of Christian faith and talk the talk, they need to walk the Christian walk as well.
God has an unrelenting mercy. He will forgive people when they sin, but there comes a time when a line is drawn.
The whole book of Malachi in the Bible is a story about how the Israelites think they are the "chosen ones" by God, therefore they do whatever they want, paying no heed to what God asks of them.
They constantly convict themselves by committing the same sin over and over, thinking that because God is a God of forgiveness and they consider themselves to be okay people, they will be forgiven every time.
Their assumptions could not be farther off. The book of Malachi said God punishes the foolish people and shows his wrath. The story of these Israelites shows that if people follow by the Lord's statutes they will not only avoid God's rage, but they will be blessed.
Stories such as that in the Bible relate to how people in today's world act.
They go around claiming they are Christian, yet dishonor Him in their actions when they don't lead a Christian lifestyle.
This needs to be stopped. If you claim to love God, it is not that hard to think about his word and what he wants from you.
All that needs to happen is for people to think about their actions before acting.
If it is a sinful action, why would people do something to disobey God and not expect repercussions?
Would a child disobey their parent and not expect a punishment?
