Becchina: Holiday shoppers should stay safe
Everyone loves going shopping and catching all the sales, especially us girls.
Black Friday is a shop-a-holic's favorite day of the year.
People stay up all night just to get a good spot in line before the doors open to their favorite stores.
Then they pile in like a herd of wild elephants and the chaos begins.
Black Friday is absolute craziness.
I'm one of those people who cannot stand to shop when there are a million people out.
The only time I enjoy it is during the
holiday season because that's part of what Christmas shopping is all about.
Last year at the Wal-Mart in my hometown a man was crossing the street when another person who didn't see him came driving down the road and hit him.
Fortunately, the man survived with minor injuries.
I had also heard last year about another incident that occurred at a Wal-Mart in San Diego.
As soon as the store opened, the mob of anxious shoppers waiting outside piled into the
store.
Someone tripped and fell and no one stopped to help them up. They just kept coming, trampling the person as if they didn't know there were there.
That person passed away.
Don't get me wrong, I love going shopping and getting lots of things on Black Friday, but is it really worth all this?
People get so anxious to get everything while it is on sale, that they don't pay attention to what's going on right in front of them.
Getting those items is the number one priority at that moment.
People need to take a step back and come back to reality for a second.
This year, Wal-Mart stores all over are going to be giving people "potty-passes."
These will give people an opportunity to go use the restroom and still be able to keep their spot in line.
If you think about it, that is a pretty good idea.
This year when people go out, I hope they remember to be safe and that nothing ridiculous happens like last year.
Black Friday can be fun because you are almost guaranteed to see someone out shopping that you know.
It brings people together in that sense.
It is fun just observe your surroundings and see how people behave on this one day. Sometimes it is pretty funny.
I'm just ready for the holidays.
