It’s Christmas Day, the family is all there and before presents get opened, it is time for dinner. What’s for dinner, you may ask? Well that’s a very good question. Should your family go with the traditional Thanksgiving-type meal on Christmas Day? Or should you change the tradition? That’s exactly what I’m here to explain, the do’s and don'ts of Christmas Day meals that will make the family full and happy.

MAIN COURSE

The main course is an essential to every Holiday meal. Do you go with the original turkey and ham? Or spice it up and bring some new flavor to this age old tradition? It’s a question that you need to ask the family first and foremost, never bring an unannounced item to the family gathering. Make sure you say something in advance, two or three months before the big day that way everyone knows what to expect. My family has fajitas every year and it’s a great mix up from the turkey we used to do. Turkey was served one month prior to Christmas so why would you want to go through that whole process again? Changing it up is always the move.

SIDES

The sides are what make the meal. This is a small portion on the plate but a big portion of the happiness. The key for when you are bringing sides is never forget the mashed potatoes. It’s as simple as that, you bring the mashed potatoes all the families will be happy. The teenagers will eat it, the babies can eat it, great grandma Ruth can eat them. Everyone is happy. If you don’t remember anything else, always remember to bring the mashed potatoes.

DRINKS

Don’t be deceived by the moms and their “diet plans;” everybody wants to drink that ever so will be loved Dr. pepper. Nobody wants to just drink water on a holiday like Christmas, everyone wants to have a little fun kick back with a beer or a pop of some kind. Of course, have the water on tap because after two or three Dr. peppers go down the drain, there’s going to be I need for rehydration even on the fridge and December night. If you are in charge of drinks, bring a variety; Coke, Dr. Pepper, root beer, tea, the list could go on anon just do not bring only water

Whatever you bring to the table for Christmas dinner, make sure you follow these guidelines and you will have a successful Christmas meal. Merry Christmas.
