5 ways to bring the holidays to your dorm room
With Christmas approaching rapidly, many students will not be able to go home for the holiday. It can be upsetting to not be able to see your family and be at home because the holidays are a time for family. To make this better, here are a few ways to bring Christmas to your dorm room.
-
Buy a mini Christmas tree and set it up in your dorm room. You can decorate it with lights, tinsel, ornaments and even a tree topper. Dollar Tree sells many different things you can use to decorate your tree, and Walmart is selling real little evergreen trees.
-
Making cookies for Santa. I know it may sound silly, but some of my fondest memories of Christmas are when me and my family would bake cookies for Santa. Now the cookies you make do not have to be just for Santa, you could spread some holiday cheer by making some for your roommates or your whole hall.
-
Hot chocolate, one of my favorite seasonal beverages. Hot chocolate can keep you warm, and you can add peppermint, marshmallow or whipped cream on top.
-
Watch some of your favorite Christmas movies. Some suggestions of classic Christmas movies: “Deck the Halls,” “Elf,” “Home Alone,” “The Grinch,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “The Polar Express.”
-
Decorating your dorm room door can also be a fun way to have some Christmas fun. All you need is a colored tablecloth and tape it to your door, then decide on a theme for the door. Some examples are Santa, snowmen or elves. Finally, you decorate the door with lights, tinsel, etc.
With these suggestions, this Christmas in your dorm room can still be a good time. You can have all the Christmas fun without leaving your room and can make some memories with friends along the way.
