Profile of the Week: Alex Greisen
Ottawa University athlete Alex Greisen was born in New Delhi, India, where he discovered his love for basketball at the age of five.
Growing up in India, Greisen played a number of different sports such as football, soccer and baseball. His father was a work specialist for the Olympics, which caused Alex and family to move around a lot.
“It gets super in hot in India. The coldest it could get is usually 50 degrees,” Greisen says. “But I like it here (in Kansas). There are way more food options!”
As one of the guards for OU basketball, it is Greisen’s job to handle the ball and make most of his shots. One of his favorite quotes states, “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take.” For him, this is motivation during every single game.
At Greisen’s previous school, Anderson University, he earned two letters for NCAA Division II. As a sophomore, he played in 22 games making five starts.
On to this year, as junior, his main goal is to win conference. Greisen strives to be the best he can be while moving forward with his teammates. Titus Rice says, "Alex is a really cool dude. He gives his all every single game! He is a really hard worker."
Greisen is very close to all of his teammates.
“We move very well as a team,” he says.
Greisen loves to watch different NBA teams play but is also a huge KU fan. He loves to work out and watch Netflix in his spare time. Before a game, he prefers to stay to himself, listening to hip-hop or classic rock, depending on his mood.
As of right now, Greisen is majoring in Business Administration. In the future, he plans on working overseas for a business while playing basketball.
“I haven’t had a chance to figure it all out yet, but I would love to travel more,” he says.
