The best place in Kansas to see Christmas lights
Do you know the real reason why Dorothy came back to Kansas? To see the beautiful display of Christmas lights! There is no doubt that Kansas has some great places to drive around and look at lights. So get your car warm, turn on some christmas music and hit the road to these destinations!
3. Wichita - 144 mi - two hours, eight minutes
Wichita is the largest city in Kansas, so of course, it is home to some great views during the holidays. Wichita is home to The Arc’s Lights. For an epic light show, take your family to Lights on Texas. During this Wichita tradition, you can see over 300,000 computer-animated lights that light up to live music. Also in Wichita is a neighborhood called “Candy Cane Lane;” here, over 20 homes are completely decked out in Christmas decorations, including a life sized Rudolph the rednosed reindeer. Wichita is a location you must go to during Christmas.
2. Topeka - 49 miles - 50 minutes
What better place to celebrate Christmas than in the state’s capital? In Topeka, you can drive through a display over a million lights at TARC’s Winter Wonderland. TARC’s offers a Christmas light show, which has been a tradition for over 20 years now. There is also a smaller light show over at lake Shawnee. Topeka is one of the best places to witness Christmas and feel the spirit of the holidays.

Overland Park - 42 miles - 41 minutes
Enjoy the view from your car as you drive through the Christmas lights on Farmstead Lane at Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. Deanna Rose is a petting zoo, but during the holidays, it is a winter wonderland. You can also enjoy the ultimate tree light display, as it is getting more exciting than ever. All of the trees are lit up and synchronized to Christmas songs. Also, you can find many ice skating rings. Enjoy the view of some lights while hitting the ice. Overland Park is a great place to be during the holidays.
Around christmas time, there is one thing we can all agree on: light shows are the best, and Kansas has some great venues to offer. Make sure to take your family to some of these locations to enjoy the Christmas spirit.
