Fortnite Frenzy
Have you ever been in your dorm room or your apartment and it sounds like there is a WWE title match going on? You get concerned, thinking it’s something serious until you hear, “Build! Build! He’s on top of the hill!”
Well, there is a good chance you’ve been introduced to Fortnite.
Fortnite has spread through the gaming community and college dorms around the country. The best thing is that the game is free!
A free to play game that has in-game purchases, it can be downloaded on PS4, Xbox One and PC. So, it doesn’t matter what system you have, you can find someone near to play with.
Fornite has been able to do something very few games have successfully been able to do. It has brought back the late-night yelling between friends and the continuous flow of energy drinks to stay up. It’s one of those games that can easily become an addiction. The phrase “just one more game” is consistently being uttered when playing.
According to pcgamesn.com, Fornite has a concurrent player count of 3.4 million players. So besides myself, there are 3.4 million people who also agree this has become the new gaming community frenzy.
A key to the success of fortnite is the gained popularity by rappers such as Drake and Travis Scott streaming them playing live. Even clubs and parties promote the game and offer people the chance to play it.
The game takes advantage of the new “Battle Royale” type of gameplay. The game has different modes: single, duo and squads (4 player co-op). The game starts you out in a bus that is floating across the map and gives you certain time limit to leave the bus until forced out. Once you land, the game begins. You start by trying to find your own loot (shields, weapons, material, etc). From there, it’s up to you to survive by eliminating the other ninety-nine players.
Fornite brings me back to the times of Call of Duty: MW2, Madden NFL, NFL 2K and Super Smash Bros. Staying up late in the room, passing the controller around and screaming untill you’re tired.
So, the next time you’re trying to get your homework done or study for a big test, don’t call the RA and complain. Just simply get online, take the squad out and then send them a message to keep it down.
