Student Athlete Payroll

It's been a great year for Ottawa University, especially on the athletic side with the new edition of the men and women's wrestling team.

There is talk that next year should be even better with the addition of a lacrosse team, men and women's powerlifting team, and the men's volleyball team.

It seems good that we're progressing in our athletics here at Ottawa University and expanding our horizons to new competition in different sports. I feel that by adding these teams it is going to fill up our campus in ways we have never seen.

Why not pay the student athletes? It only makes sense because with the student body increasing just means that a lot more students are going to have to live off-campus.

I bet many students will not be able to afford an apartment off-campus so I feel that giving a student athlete an allowance should be a given.

I also believe that student athletes should get an allowance because with all these fees to pay as well as any fines given to us throughout the year we should not be able to stress about it during our time here getting our education.

I feel that an allowance would almost be like paying the student-athletes back for bringing in the money the school saved from our big homecoming events or big rivalry events in sports. Also, all the fundraising that we participate in and that we do not get to see a dime of.

With student athletes getting an allowance I feel that Ottawa as a whole would be able to recruit more athletes and have more of an interest in coming here because it shows how our school shows appreciation to the hard work we put in to represent Ottawa University athletics.
