Royals make World Series
Kansas City is making a big name for itself in the sports world and the big news right now is in baseball where the Kansas City Royals are making history by going to the 2014 World Series where they will play against the San Francisco Giants.
This is probably one of the biggest achievements that the states of Kansas and Missouri have experienced in this century so far, and to express their feelings and thoughts, are a few proud OU students.
Sean Ludden, junior, said this was an amazing turn of events for the Royals. “I remember going to the games when I was a kid and literally see more empty seats then there were fans,” Ludden said.
Right now the Royals have been able to extend the series to seven games making this next game the biggest game the Royals have played since 1985.
Garrett Brown, junior, also thinks this is one of the greatest things he has experienced in his life. “One because it is my home state making a name for themselves, but also because my grandfather went to the World Series games in 1985,” Brown said. “After last night’s game, I have a strong feeling that we can win this year.”
The Royal fever has been contagious throughout the OU campus and it has given students a positive vibe and something to look forward to watching.
One of the coolest things that have been going on campus is that in the Gibson Student Center has televised every game so far since the Royals have made playoffs.
“Not only is it awesome for me, but it is cool when you see the many fans here in Ottawa. I feel that makes all of the students here in OU closer.” Ludden said.
Game seven will be televised at 7 p.m. (E.T) and will be on in the Gibson Student Center. See you there tonight…
