Seniors get ready for real world
Seniors at Ottawa University are counting down the days until they will be able to throw their cap in the air on May 11.
Senior Megan Bledsoe has a couple of interviews lined up within the next couple of weeks.
“The job I am really gearing for is a clinical research assistant position with PRA International, which performs human test trials for pharmaceutical companies,” Bledsoe said. “I am really looking forward to being able to use my degree in biology and the research skills I’ve learned here at Ottawa, I am excited for this change in my life.”
Senior Sydnee Krueger will be heading west for her occupation.
“I have a graduate assistantship lined up at Fort Hays State University, where I will work on my master’s in higher education student affairs,” Krueger said.
“What excites me the most is I have the opportunity to get my master’s while working with a great school,” Krueger said.
Senior Nino Straub also will be hitting the interview pathway.
“I have some interviews with different school districts for a biology teaching job,” Straub said.
Straub said he is optimistic about what the future holds.
“What excites me now is I am just a student teacher, but soon I will be looking forward to going into school every day,” Straub said.
All of these seniors will have to use some life skills they have learned in their academic journey. Krueger said participating in student activities will help her in her next job, while Bledsoe’s occupation will require a different set of skills.
“This job requires people skills as well as organization, both of which I feel I have developed over the past four years attending Ottawa,” Bledsoe said.
“Skills this job needs is experience in student activities, which I have had plenty of experience in the past,” Krueger said.
