Lady Gaga to star in season 5 of "American Horror Story"
It has been confirmed that Born This Way singer, Lady Gaga, will star in the widely popular television series American Horror Story, created by Ryan Murphy. The title of the season is “Hotel.”
The announcement that Lady Gaga would star in the fifth season has fans riled up, to say the least.
Social media has been exploding in the past few days about the news and fan-made posters have already been created, as well as an official release from AHS’ Twitter page. Ottawa University students have been sharing their excitement across social media platforms.
Many fans are excited because of the musical aspect that has been present since season two; star Jessica Lange did her insanity-induced cover of The Name Game by Shirely Ellis.
From season two, there have been a number of musical numbers probably deriving from Murphy’s musical background with his show Glee.
Murphy has already developed an audience from the LGBT community with his fight against public opposition regarding gay characters. Murphy has no interest in hiding homosexuality within his shows, as seen in the many gay characters in Glee and in AHS.
Lady Gaga is thought to bring in a larger audience from her active involvement in the LGBT community.
This could be a great way to advocate gay marriage, since there has been public outcry from homosexual characters being introduced in other widely popular shows such as the introduction of a gay couple in The Walking Dead series.
Each season of the series follows a new narrative featuring a horror-inducing setting. Another interesting fact about the series is that it uses the same cast members repeatedly through multiple seasons.
The first season is set within a haunted house where countless murders have taken place, commonly titled “Murder House.”
The second season, titled “Asylum,” has audiences exploring a mental institution under the supervision of religious mentors.
“Coven” was the third season of American Horror Story, and it followed the narrative of a witch coven with a very strong cast of females.
Finally, season four covered a “Freakshow,” where characters had physical disabilities and were being pursued by killer clowns and disability hunters.
Whether or not fans believe that Gaga is a fit for the television series, audiences will get a whole new look at what she can do outside of the music world. The season is set to begin in October of this year.
