Football: The Braves get another agonizing victory in conference
The Ottawa University Braves defeated the Sterling College Warriors 42-41 at a thrilling game on Saturday afternoon at People’s Bank Field.
The Braves won thanks to a Warriors’ missed extra point with only 26 seconds left on the clock that would have taken the game into overtime.
Seniors Luke Lundy, Michael Behr, Josh Stangby and Kodee Wood led the Braves in a breath-taking game that animated homecoming.
Lundy rushed for 131 yards, scoring three touchdowns, and Behr rushed for 121 on 16 attempts, including a touchdown.
Stangby had four receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns and Kodee Wood finished with four receptions for 45 yards.
With this win, the Braves put their record in conference in 4-1 and are tied for the first place with the Friends University Falcons.
Right behind them are the Tabor College Bluejays, the Bethany College Swedes and the Sterling College Warriors, with a 3-2 record.
Soccer: Lady Braves get another win and Braves gave up late lead against Sterling College
The Ottawa University Lady Braves beat 3-0 the Sterling College Warriors thanks to a first collegiate-career goal by Junior Brooklyn Davis and to two goals by first year student Caroline Jenkins, to earn OU’s fourth victory in conference.
The men, on the other hand, could not get hold the lead and gave up a goal with a little bit more than a minute left, which tied the game 3-3.
Before that, Ottawa came back from a 0-2 deficit, thanks to goals scored by senior Max Brewer, junior Kyler Grimes and senior Tyler Smith.
Alumni Games
Basketball, baseball and softball had their annual alumni games this homecoming weekend. On Friday night both women and men refreshed some memories on Wilson Field House.
On Saturday, the Lady Braves beat the alumni 5-2, while the Braves beat their alumni 18-0, on Dick Peters Field.
