Opinion Head-to-Head: Animal rights, difference in value
I don't hate animals.
In fact, I do have sympathy that they sometimes get stuck in cruel situations in this human world.
When it comes to issues like animal rights though, I can't stand oversensitive people and hypocrites.
I think PETA is one of the most annoying groups on the planet. The fact that they have something to say every single time something in the news has to deal with an animal is enough for me to want to run in their building and tear some stuff up.
Remember when President Barack Obama swatted that fly during his television interview?
They actually came out with a statement that said he's not perfect because he swatted a fly on TV and they wish he wouldn't swat flies.
They even sent him some device that catches insects and releases them into the wild.
So what was PETA trying to say? That they're perfect because they don't swat at bugs? Get real. I would have said that he wasn't perfect if he would have missed the fly.
Flies aren't even animals anyway, so that's even more ridiculous. Another thing is, people that really get disgusted and complain openly about animal problems may be part of the problem themselves.
All I have to say is, anybody who works in PETA's building better not ever consider eating meat, from the tops to the janitors.
Just think that if you were being held at gunpoint, would you let someone kill your dog, or you? Or your brother?
Or your mother? That dog would be dead quicker than you could even think about it.
I know that was kind of a hard reality, but there's no way that people can justifiably give a possum the same rights you feel you have.
That possum may not have done much to you, or anyone, but that possum also doesn't care about you at all.
You're not going to catch me hanging out with a squirrel just because I'm bored or we have a lot in common.
The truth is, I value human life a lot more than others, because in the end we're going to be able to help each other more than animals will help us.
I'm not saying that it's OK to electrocute, or drown dogs, because I can't just kill an animal out of fun.
I'm not looking for a reason to hurt anything, but I'm not going to slow down if a rodent willingly runs onto the road when I'm driving, I'm not going to slow down, because I saw that commercial when the other rodents ran onto the rode and started celebrating when someone crashed.
I halfway think it's true, so I'm not going to be that guy.
