Rebekah Loker Qualifies for ISC Singles National Bowling Championship
Rebekah “Beka” Loker was the lone Brave to qualify for the ISC Singles National Bowling Championship that will take place in Wyoming, Michigan, on May 3-8.
She was one of six ladies to qualify out of over 150 competitors. She and the other Braves bowled at one of the four sectional sites in Smyrna, Tennessee.
"It's surreal. I can't believe I'm actually going," Loker says.
Loker had struggled in practice recently but went into the event with a goal set.
"Going into sectionals I was very nervous,” she says, admitting her timing had been off.
“This was also the first sectionals I've ever been to due to COVID preventing us from going last year, so I didn't know what to expect. My goal for the day was to not have a game below 160, which I didn't. My lowest game was a 161. The lanes transitioned hard that game. I don't remember my exact games, but I shot 1209 for six games, so I averaged 201.5."
Loker isn't sure what to expect at nationals but is looking forward to a fun experience.
"I'm competing against the top 24 competitors in the nation for this year, so it's nerve-racking,” she says. “I'm hoping I am able to have fun, meet new people and learn from this experience."
