Monday, January 18: Ottawa Bowling’s Head Coach Geoff Poston announced on Facebook that the men’s and women’s teams have come to an agreement with manufacturer Motiv Bowling on a sponsorship of the program.
“I have always been hesitant to sign our team with a ball company because I wanted it to be a situation that would not only benefit the company, but would also benefit our program,” Poston says.
“We have developed some great relationships in three short years, and I'm excited to announce that we will be sponsored by the Motiv brand! I’m looking forward to all of our Braves bowlers having some Motiv options in their arsenal, while continuing to build our relationship with Motiv for years to come. We are excited and thankful for this opportunity.”
Freshman bowlers Spencer Giffin and Grabriella Hernandez both throw Motiv balls and are excited for the sponsorship.
“The first-ever ball I got was a Motiv ball,” Hernandez says. “I’m excited that the team gets a chance to throw a different ball company that many happen to turn their shoulder to.”
“Same for me,” Giffin adds. “I’ve thrown Motiv balls mainly in my career, and I’m excited for others to try their equipment out.”
Junior Kyle Lovell hasn’t thrown Motiv balls in college yet but is still excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.
“I like that we have the face of a company on our program name,” Lovell says. “I hope that from this sponsorship, eventually an endorsement can occur. I think with their equipment we are going to be able to better compete in tournaments.”
With the sponsorship, each athlete on the team gets a limited amount of free equipment and discounted prices on other equipment as well.
