Ten things to keep you busy while quarantined

Quarantine can drive you absolutely crazy. Being trapped in your room for that long -- whether it’s your dorm, apartment, a room at Rock Creek or even if you were able to go home -- can be infuriating. There are several things you can do to keep yourself busy that are outside of your typical routine in order to change things up.
Here are 10 new activities to try while in quarantine:
-
Try a new hairstyle - Cut, dye or style your hair and try out something you have always wanted to do. Now is the best time to do so.
-
Read a book - Read something from a different genre and take your mind on a vacation. Stretch out your imagination and see how far it will go.
-
Learn how to cook something new - Experiment with cooking something you are craving or try replicating a dish you usually get from a restaurant. Be mindful of having to leave your room for this if you’re in the dorms.
-
Binge watch a new series - Find a new show that looks interesting and has more than two seasons. Anything less might drive you crazier than quarantine will.
-
Try a new hobby - Attempt something you have always wanted to for example knitting, embroidery, drawing, painting, wood carving or gardening. A lot of the materials needed for this can be easily obtained; have a friend pick them up for you from Walmart.
-
Work out - Exercise and get your body right. You gotta lose that “Freshman 15” somehow, right?
-
Journal - Keep a journal of your life through this interesting time. You can look back on it and see how many of these activities you tried.
-
Adopt an animal - Many shelters are doing contactless adoptions, and a furry friend might make quarantine go faster. Be sure that you are somewhere animals are approved of first, making sure you take all of the necessary precautions prior to adoption.
-
Find a penpal - There are multiple websites where you can connect with people from all over the world. This is a great way to get in touch with a new culture and expand your cultural horizons.
-
Rearrange your room - Keep your space fun and new, so spending long periods of time in your room is not too terrible. There could be endless possibilities to how your room can look, so why just keep it one way?
Don’t let yourself go crazy (or crazier, if you believe you already are) when you’re quarantined. Try something new and come out of your shell, even if you can’t come out of your room.
