How to get from home to the field ASAP
Ottawa University has undergone a recent quarantine for the majority of students on campus. This quarantine was put into place by administration in an attempt to protect against COVID-19, and to halt the spread of the few reported cases on campus. This event has caused many sports to be postponed, and even some of them completely canceled for the season. This leaves the Ottawa Braves Esports team as the only active sport able to compete, due to the ability of players being able to practice from home on their personal PC rigs.
So what does this mean for all of the other athletes on campus? How long will we be in quarantine? Will we be able to compete when next season comes? A lot of these questions don’t have definitive answers, but one thing that we can ensure is the safety of others by following social distancing and quarantine guidelines.
What are those guidelines? With following these rules and regulations put into place, not only are you ensuring the safety of yourself, but your fellow classmates as well. If we make a group effort to consistently follow these guidelines, I believe we all can be back where we need to be ASAP.
The steps for quarantine are quite simple, but a lot of the time people tend to overthink them. Individuals are placed in quarantine when they have been suspected of exposure to someone with a positive case of the coronavirus. There are two key things you need to consider when going into quarantine. The first one is as simple as staying away from other people. Absolutely isolate yourself from others the best you can in order to protect yourself and others from spread of the disease. The other one is often overlooked, but if you have a standard thermometer, make sure that you are monitoring your own temperature. At least once a day should do.
It’s that simple! According to guidelines, if you follow these two easy steps, and you do not show any symptoms, you only need to be quarantined for 14 days. With this base knowledge, I know we can get through this, and I am looking forward to seeing all players competing out on the field.
