Things to Do in Kansas for Spring Break
Stuck in Kansas for Spring Break?
If you find yourself “stuck,” or if you don’t have the money to go on a week-long trip, finding things to do in Kansas ends up being your only option … unless you desire to just work and sit at home!
Contrary to popular belief, there are many opportunities for adventure in every direction. Here are four great ideas.
1. Rock City, Minneapolis
These sandstone concretions are the result of exposure over millions of years. This collection of giant boulders is the only place in the world where you can find so many of such a large size. These provide more than an Instagram-worthy photo: It’s a sight you can’t see anywhere else.
2. Starlite Drive-In, Wichita
Spend the evening relaxing in the spring air. Starlite has two screens, and the entry fee covers three movies that play consecutively. The entry fee is also by car, so pack as many friends as you can into your vehicle and pay $13 for hours of fun. Viewers are able to hear the audio over the speakers in their car, by tuning into a radio station or simply using the speakers to hook on your car.
3. Kansas Museum of History, Topeka
Take a step into the past and learn about what this state was built on in the Kansas Museum of History. It was named the best history museum in Kansas, as the atmosphere sets this museum apart from any others. While in Topeka, take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the history of Kansas by visiting the State Capitol.
4. Mount Sunflower, Weskan
At 4,039 feet above sea level, this landmark features the highest elevation point in Kansas. To some it may just seem like a slight incline in the middle of some wheat field. However, others see much more. The owners of the land that holds Mount Sunflower welcome anyone, with the stipulation that you treat the property as if it was your own. With a free mini library and picnic tables, this landmark gives a whimsical feel as if you’re on top of the world.
