5 Things to do at a Royals Game
Sporting games are times to spend with friends, drink and yell recklessly at the players when they do good and bad. We get to dress up crazy, paint our faces and wear jerseys with a player’s name on the back who we either love or have no idea who they are -- we have just heard the name and know they are good. When experiencing your first Royals home game, here are a few things you should make sure to do:
1. Tailgate
Tailgating before the game is one of the best parts of the experience. As much as we love to watch baseball, drinking beer, eating food and hanging out with friends is even better! Especially when you go with someone who is from the Midwest and brings the game Cornhole.
2. Get a footlong hotdog
Even though you tailgated right before the game, you may get a little hungry at some point. One thing not to miss is the footlong hotdog. They are actually a foot long -- you just have to add the ketchup, mustard and relish.
3. Baseball hats with food
If you want something to snack on, like nachos, get the one in a KC baseball hat! Yes, it is $16, but you get a lot of yummy nachos as well as a cool blue helmet! It is a great souvenir for your first game.
4. Sit at an angle to catch a ball
Everyone wants to catch a foul ball or a home run, but if you don’t sit in the right section to where those two hits will go, you do not stand a chance to grab one. The nice thing is that Kaufman Stadium, “The K,” is the perfect size for catching a ball. Because of the size, you do not have to empty your bank account just to get a seat that remotely close to where a foul ball may go. In other stadiums, to sit at the back side of the field for cheap, forget about it! Not at the K, though..
5. Get Dippin’ Dots
Dippin’ Dots are a MUST. Yes we all know it is technically ice cream, but we have to admit, something about them is so appealing. If you want a smaller souvenir you can get the same KC baseball helmet but much tinier and filled with Dippin’ Dots.
When going to your first KC Royals game, you have to expect to spend a lot of money, but you will quickly realize it was so worth every penny. If you’re in your 20s and going there for the first time, you will definitely wonder why you have never tried experience this before.
