Top 10 Country Concerts of the Summer
1. Kenny Chesney - July 16 - Arrowhead Stadium
Along with Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt and Old Dominion, this one you can’t miss. Kenny Chesney puts on an amazing show, and I promise you will even enjoy it from the nosebleeds of Arrowhead Stadium. This is also one you want to get into as soon as it starts. You will regret not getting to see Old Dominion in a few years, and ladies they are pretty good looking too. I’m a little over the Hunt obsession, but I still would never turn down an opportunity to see him. Finally, Lambert is a true queen on the stage, and maybe even more of her sassy side will come out in the post Blake break-up.
2. Country Stampede - June 23-25 - Tuttle Creek Park-Manhattan
Because who doesn’t love three straight days of camping, drinking beer and listening to live country music? The lineup for Country Stampede does not disappoint this year. From headliners Tim McGraw, Jake Owen and Dierks Bentley to opening acts Josh Abbott Band, Casey Donahew Band and Chase Rice, it is about to be an amazing three-day party. Fair warning: Be prepared for the hot temperatures, crazy drunks and lots of mud, so this one may not be for everyone. To see the entire line-up go to www.countrystampede.com.
3. Hot Country Nights - Thursday Nights - KC Live Block
The Kansas City Power and Light District has just released their summer lineup for the Hot Country Nights, and it’s their best yet. These are free concerts on Thursday Nights for anyone 21 and up. (If you are not 21, you can get in with a legal guardian.) The artists and dates they are performing are listed below:
6/16: HCNKC: Josh Abbott Band
6/23: HCNKC: Randy Houser
6/30: HCNKC: Randy Rogers Band
7/7: HCNKC: Chris Janson
7/14: HCNKC: Travis Marvin
7/21: TBA
7/28: HCNKC: Billy Currington
8/4: HCNKC: Eric Paslay
8/11: HCNKC: Dwight Yoakam
8/18: HCNKC: Eli Young Band
4. Carrie Underwood - Sunday May 15 - Sprint Center
This “American Idol” superstar is taking the stage along with openers Easton Corbin and the Swon Brothers. It won’t be the beer-chugging outdoor party like some of the other summer concerts on this list, but Carrie sure can perform with those lungs and long legs of hers. It would be perfect for a Date Night or Girls Night Out.
5. Jason Aldean - May 20 - Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre***
Jason Aldean will be Burnin’ it Down on the 20th, along with Thomas Rhett and a Thousand Horses. The two opening acts alone should make you excited for this concert. Maybe Rhett’s wife will even be with him.
6. Keith Urban - June 2 - Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre***
This Aussie knows how to sing, and with Brett Eldredge and Maren Morris it will be one amazing night.
7. Brantley Gilbert - June 12 - Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre***
Hopefully he doesn’t forget to sing “My Kind of Crazy” like he did last summer. The openers for this one are Justin Moore and Colt Ford. The three of them will deliver a good mix of country rock.
8. Rascal Flatts - July 29 - Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre***
Rumor is this may be one of Rascal Flatts’ last tours, so if you haven’t gotten the chance to see them before this could be your last chance. Kelsea Ballerini and Chris Lane will be opening.
9. Luke Bryan - August 25 - Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre***
Ladies this one is a must. Luke Bryan + Tight Jeans + Dancing = AMAZING. Little Big Town and Frankie Ballard are joining him on this one.
10. Dixie Chicks - August 30 - Sprint Center
The Dixie Chicks are coming back! I never thought this day would come. Who knows if they even still know how to sing anymore?
Smaller Concerts to look into this summer:
-Zac Brown Band in Kansas City (not exactly small but I only had room for 10)
-Granger Smith at Power and Light District, Kansas City
-Chase Bryant in Gardner, Kansas
-Rock N Country Festival in Winfield, Kansas
-Dylan Scott in Kearney, MO (Kansas City)
-Lakefest in Atchison, Kansas
***The Providence Medical Center Amphitheatre is offering a Country Megaticket to these concerts. If you want to go to all five, it is cheaper to buy this Megaticket than to pay individually for each one.
