Writers, poets and artists at our campus, here is an opportunity for you to show your talent to the community.
The Gangwish Library is currently developing a Literary Journal, called Stay Gold. This work is being built by Gloria Creed-Dikeogu, Director of Library Services & Associate Professor of Library Science, and OU students Ashlynn Good, Ashley Lamar, Jacob Baker and me, Bruna Pacheco.
Their goal is to create a literary journal providing opportunities for students in the community to publish short stories, short fiction, poetry, drama, non-fiction essays, digital art and photographs.
“The idea came from my passion for Fine Arts,” said Creed-Dikeogu. “Because I’m a writer and have published books before. I just want to get students involved that are interested in writing just like me.”
The chance to participate is open to not only students in the Ottawa campus, but also faculty and staff at the Kansas City, Arizona, Wisconsin and online campuses.
“It will be good to give students who don’t get a chance to write a lot a place to express themselves,” stated OU student and member of the Editorial committee, Ashlynn Good.
So, if you are interested in submitting your literary work, send your stories to: OUstaygold@gmail.com or if you are at the Ottawa campus and would like to submit a hard copy of your work, there is a “Stay Gold Box” located in the library across the desk of manual submissions.
The submitted productions have to be original, as it has not been published anywhere in print or on the web in the past.
Writers will only be able to submit one work at a time in each genre.
If you are shy and do not want your name to show up in your work, don’t worry or get disappointed, there is still a way. There will be an option available to send as an anonymous author.
The Stay Gold Editorial Committee is looking for more three editors and a website manager in order to advance with this project. If you are interested in joining the literary editorial committee, stop by the library at any time or reach out to Gloria via email.
