Johnson is #13

Joe Johnson is a well-known figure on campus here in Ottawa.

“Preacher Joe” as some call him, Johnson is a senior basketball player for the Braves. Last year as a junior, Johnson averaged 6.5 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. He shot 46.9 percent from the floor, 43.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line and 77.4 percent from the free-throw line. Johnson scored a career-high 18 points, had a career-high seven rebounds and a career-high four assists against Bethany College. He had a career-high three steals twice, with the last being against Tabor College.

However, basketball isn’t Johnson’s only passion. He loves music and talking about his faith with his fellow peers. This is only a little part of why he created “It’s Your Moment.”

“The main reason I created this show was to show that the people we put on a pedestal — celebrities, big figures in our community — go through the same struggles as we do. They are human just like us, and that’s what the show is all about. I want to be able to encourage anyone who listens and lets them know that they have a purpose in life. They have a story to tell that needs to be heard,” he says.

Johnson explains the podcast gives people the opportunity to give testimony about what they have overcome.

“Throughout the show, there will be words of encouragement of different topics about life for example relationships, faith, purpose, etc. This is an opportunity for us to tell our testimony and be healed, delivered and set free,” he says.
