Graduation anticipated, last step for OU seniors

For many, college graduation is the last step before entering the real world.

There is an anticipated eighty-two students graduating from Ottawa University this May. Several of these students will be graduating with honors.

“Twelve [seniors] are expected to graduate with distinction in their senior comprehensive,” University Registrar Karen Adams said.

Brad Crow is a senior graduating from OU this semester with a degree in exercise science with an emphasis in strength and conditioning. He has visions of success in his future.

“I want to have a family and open my own gym later on in life,” said Crow.

A college graduation means a great deal to him.

“It means its time for the real world and I made my family proud by graduating. It means I’m done with school. I came farther that I ever thought I could.”

Clint Brightman is also an Ottawa Senior graduating this May and is a physical education major with an emphasis in recreation and sports administration. He also has high hopes for the future.

“I want to learn as much as I can in personal training. I eventually want to start my own business and then start a family,” Brightman said.

Brightman also feels he has met great people at OU.

“I have met people who genuinely care and they will be lifelong resources and friends,” said Brightman.

The commencement speaker for graduation will be Dr. Richard Warch from Ellison Bay, Wisconsin.

Ottawa senior, as well as Student Senate President, Patrick Rockers will be doing the scripture reading.

There will be fourteen students participating from other campuses, mainly from online and the Kansas City campus.

“These include students receiving master’s degrees as well as bachelor’s degrees,” said Adams.

The Graduation Ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the University.
