When most people hear or see the terms room raider, they probably think about the hit MTV show.
This is a room raid, but not for the conclusion of a date or hopes of finding love. The room raid that is conducted throughout the campus dorms are actually health and safety inspections.
These health and safety inspections are random. Meaning your resident assistant might be knocking at your door in search of nice, clean, and healthy living quarters. This means you dorm room must be clean and trash free.
Most students go away to college thinking their parents aren’t around to dictate and tell them what to do, and the last thing on their mind is cleaning their dorm rooms.
Little do these students know that a dirty room is actually a health hazard. “There aren’t any new rules. The old rules are still currently being enforced,” said Erin Frey, sophomore RA.
These inspections will be held often before the campus leaves for breaks such as fall break, Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, and Spring break. “These inspections are conducted for everyone’s health and safety. Hints the name: health and safety inspection,” Frey said.
According to www.associatedcontent.com you can accomplish cleaning your dorm room in less than 15 minutes with a few steps. “These steps include the following: keep your room organized. Designate a hamper or laundry bin for you dirty laundry, rather than throwing them on the floor.”
When it is time to do laundry you won’t have to search underneath your roommate’s bed for a pair of trousers you may have lost. Do the same thing with trash. Trash and old food are an invitation for bugs and other creatures. This is not what you want.
As stated on www.associatedcontent.com, “Make sure you invest in a broom or a wet swifer. A broom might be more affordable. Dust may accumulate and become a problem. If you keep following these steps, then your room should remain organized, healthy, and safe. Cleaning is as easy as 1, 2, 3.”
Now you will not have to panic when your resident assistant is about to key in your dorm and start an inspection. “I wasn’t nervous at all when my suite was inspected. Although the past inspection while living Bennett Hall, I was confident I would pass. I feel like I keep a pretty tidy room as anyone who has ever been in my room would know,” stated Chanel Watkins, sophomore majoring in computers.
