University adds one new faculty member

Rajani Kannepalli Kanth, new faculty member, was schooled in Social Anthropology at the Delhi School of Economics in New Delhi, India.

Today, Kanth schools students in macroeconomics in the Administration Building in room 303. He conducts class Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“I have Kanth for a night class on Mondays and I find the class very interesting because I’m learning a lot of things that caused the economy to become the way it is now,” Stephon Cotton, junior accounting major, said.

The macroeconomics course that Kanth is teaching focuses on inflationary consequences pertaining to financial matters that are designed to cancel poverty and unemployment. It also concentrates on the significance of money and government.

“In three decades I have taught in the areas of anthropology, sociology, political science, history, economics and philosophy,” said Kanth.

Kanth subsequently taught political sociology at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi before he moved to New York to attend Columbia University.

He also attended the New School for Social Research in New York

While attending, he studied Economics and Political Economy.

While he was in New York, Kanth was also an Economic Advisor to the United Nations before he returned back to the Academy. He also has many affiliations with colleges, such as State University of New York, the University of Utah, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. There are numerous universities and colleges that Kanth has taught at.

“I also did some teaching at Wagner College, Loras College, Washington College, University of Aarhus in Denmark, Duke University, Harvard University and many more institutions,” he said.

Throughout his teaching experience, Kanth has learned about things all around the world. He’s been in and out of the United States expanding his knowledge and sharing it with many institutions. Now Ottawa University has the chance to learn what Kanth knows.

“I am very eager to learn about the downs of the economy with Professor Kanth to help me understand the economy better because I also want to be in the business world someday,” Breanna Jones, Sophomore business administration and physical therapy, said.
