Campus Activities Board Keeps Spirits High
Ottawa’s Campus Activities Board offers a retreat from dorm life and provides student-bonding experiences.
Listed as the Student Activities Connection on the Ottawa website, the board plans activities to develop a well-rounded social, educational and multi-cultural environment for Ottawa University students, staff and faculty.
These activities include everything from awareness months, to game shows and anything in between.
“We do programs that reflect different monthly awareness (programs), put on games and so forth,” board member and event planner Jacob Loucks said. “The biggest thing I think we do is help new students transition, as well as give students outlets to get out of the dorms.”
With all of the different activities offered, students have the availability to pick and choose which they would like to attend.
“Laser tag was a fun experience, and may be my favorite event,” sophomore Jon Oxley said. “However, the free Subway is also hard to pass up.”
The Campus Activities Board is not all about fun and games. They also do activities to raise awareness. Sexual Assault and Awareness week, National Heart Disease Day, Alcohol Awareness Week and Sexual Health are a few examples of the many events held to inform and educate students.
