Symons believes in squad

With a new head coach, the volleyball squad has been making big adjustments
so far.

Tom Symons, head coach, believes in the girls and feels they are headed in the right direction.

“This year we’re looking to improve each day, and I think we are continuing to do that,” Symons expressed.

“As a team we are on the right track.”

Symons feels that a big struggle for the team is getting used to new things.

“The most difficult thing so far has been the players getting used to me,” Symons feels. “I use different words than they are used to and it is important for all of us to be on the same page.”

Toni Reynolds, senior, feels that Symons is getting a lot accomplished with the team and making an impact.

“Coach Symons is good at picking out what each of us needs to work on,” Reynolds said. “I feel like we have accomplished more this preseason than we have ever in the past.”

This year, the team consists of three seniors, and 11 underclassmen. Symons feels that despite the big age differences, all the girls seem to be stepping it up.

“Without juniors, the younger players are learning to take on more responsibilities and are becoming great leaders, along with the seniors,” Symons said.

Chrissie Jeannin, freshman, also feels that Symons has already made a great impact.

“I feel like he really enjoys what he does and is working really hard on making each of us better players,” Jeannin said.”

The team play at home at 4 p.m on September 1. against Bacone College.
