Ottawa’s campus seems to be getting a sense of normality back to the school with the first Spring Fling dance since the 2018-2019 school year.

With COVID-19 still lurking around, the question arises about how a dance can happen amidst a pandemic.

The head of the planning committee, freshman Nikki Miele, assures that the correct measures are being taken so students can have a safe and enjoyable dance experience.

“Masks are required at all times unless eating or drinking,” Miele says. “There are hand sanitizing stations all over the venue. Our servers are following all COVID precautions as well.”

The first 100 students to RSVP for the event will receive a free meal at the venue.

“We also have a caterer doing a pasta bar with different types of desserts as well as having salad and breadsticks available,” Miele says.

For entertainment, there will be multiple photo walls and a raffle for gift cards. The dance takes place at the Bottle House of Ottawa.

“Along with the photo walls, there will be plenty of dancing with a state-of-the-art sound system to go with it,” Miele says. “This dance will go perfect with it being at the Bottle House of Ottawa. It’s a beautiful wedding venue that has this rustic, yet fancy, unique look.”

The dance is to take place from 7-10 p.m. March 30.
