Student Health Services and Residence Life hosted an event on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Week (Jan. 25-29). C.L. Lindsay presented “Sex and the Law” at 7:30pm in the Gibson Student Center. C.L.,an attorney, is a nationally recognized expert in the field of student’s rights and academic freedom.
He shared information with students which included: the concept of consent, evaluating current social norms, bystander intervention strategies, the effects of sexual assault, resource information for students and state laws related to sexual harassment, stalking and sexual assault. This event was attended by approximately 100 students.
During the course of Sexual Assault Awareness week, students were offered various information provided through resource tables staffed by Ottawa University residence life and The Care Center, Franklin County’s community resource for victim-survivors of sexual trauma and abuse.
