Last year with COVID-19 being in a very active state, we as students saw a lot of changes occur on campus. As many of the upperclassmen here at Ottawa University know, the Hetric Bistro experience was dampened last year due to the pandemic. Many changes occurred in the Bistro, but now that COVID-19 has started to become more stable, there are even more changes happening.
One of the most exciting ones that occurred going into this semester is the return of the salad station and the ChefU experience. At the salad bar (which is available during lunch hours), students are provided the opportunity to make their salad with the toppings of their choice. This is much better compared to the premade salads that were offered in the 2020-2021 school year. The ChefU experience, even though it's currently down, is planning on making its return also. With this unique experience, students are able to cook their meal with the vegetables of their choice and the addition of sauce or rice.
There are other changes that may not seem important. But when those things are taken away, you tend to appreciate them more when they come back, such as our ability to serve ourselves whatever condiments we need or even the seating around the Starbucks counter. Another exciting change making its way back is the self-serve ice cream machine. This addition of the machine is something that many returning students were pleased to see this fall semester.
Even with there being some COVID-19 restrictions in the Hetric Bistro, such as gloves when making your food, students are still excited to see these new changes and the increased options they bring.
