The results are in … and we have a new Student Body President for the 2021-22 school year. Dalton Sikes will serve as President for the Braves along with his VP Reagan Lorey, Secretary Jessamyn Mansfield and Treasurer Brandon Tran.

Sikes is originally from Ocoee, Florida, and moved to Watkinsville, Georgia when he was 11.

“I went to middle and high school there. That’s where I found myself,” the junior says. “I'm a laid-back guy, a big ole teddy bear.”

At first, Sikes didn’t know what he wanted to do, but with the help of friends, he made his decision.

“I was kind of enjoying being the junior class rep, but toward the end, I was like, ‘Man, I could really be president and do something for the university as a whole,’ and I asked around,” he recalls. “People agreed and said (I) would be a good fit. So it wasn’t just me, it’s people around me who encouraged me.”

Sikes sees Ottawa’s PGDs (Personal Growth Days) as a main concern looking toward next year.

“The first thing I want to do is really feel like the people have a voice and ask them what they find wrong with the campus or what can be improved,” Sikes says. “But personally, one goal I have in mind is fixing the whole PGDs situation to where we can get that full attendance.”

Sikes adds, “I’m just excited to be able to serve the Braves nation as their president!”
