Did Ottawa University Prepare You?

OTTAWA–For some people, graduating college can be exciting, while for others, it can be scary. For senior Curtis Dawson, life beyond graduation is scary.

“OU has given me a different type of education and a different perspective on life and has prepared me for my future,” Dawson said. Brooklyn Davis, a senior at OU as well, felt much different.

“OU was a good college experience, but I don’t think it prepared me for graduate school,” Davis said. She applied to different graduate programs hoping that her qualification is enough to be accepted.

Ottawa University is a Liberal Arts school, meaning it focuses more on the student’s general education than on just their specific major, helping the students become well-rounded.

There is not a special class for the students to take that focuses on aspects beyond graduation, such as graduate school or a job.

I have done all preparation for graduate school on my own, and I feel unprepared because I dont have as many classes in my major areas as other graduate school candidates,” Davis explained.

The possibility of integrating a class into advice for the post-graduation life may help the students at OU go further in life than they imagined.

“There should be more help with internship or applying for graduate school,” she concluded.
