November 12 resume and cover letter workshop

Come to the writing center located in the Adawe Center for all your writing needs. On November 12, there will be a resume writing and cover letter workshop for those who would like professional help with these two items.

When it comes to finding a job after graduation, your most important tool to advertise and promote yourself is your resume. A resume is a one to two pages document that shows your skills and background.

The resume and writing workshop will help teach you about some of the following information.

Great resumes are your foot in the door for that dream job everyone searches for. A well written and edited resume screams, “look at me I am qualified for this job!”

Resumes should only contain the information relevant to the job you are currently applying for. When building your resume, include recent work and education that pertains to the job. People tend to have multiple different resumes for each position they apply for.

Active verbs, proper punctuation and spelling are key ingredients to appealing resumes. Information should be easily identifiable and offer readability.

Employers wish to know what your objective is when you submit a resume. Make sure to put a section in the resume with the goals or skills you bring to the company.
