Fall season brings different area events to enjoy

 

Autumn brings about many changes and events. The leaves change colors, the weather gets chillier, and there are fairs and festivals. Many nearby cities host festivals that feature a variety of craft booths, food and drinks, car shows and even jousting. Here are three upcoming events within driving distance for your weekend entertainment.

The Renaissance Festival

Date: Saturdays and Sundays only Sept. 1- Oct. 14

Location: 628 North 126th St., Bonner Springs, Kan.

Cost: $19.95 per adult/$17.50 per student—There are discounts for ordering in advance/online.

Description: Head out to the Renaissance Festival for fun at one of the remaining weekends. The Renaissance Festival features live jousting, lots of food and drinks, themed craft booths and more. Each weekend has a different theme, so be sure to check out their website for more information. Also, there will be continuous entertainment on over 16 different stages, and many new and returning events.

Louisburg Ciderfest

Date: Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 6-7

Location: Louisburg Cider Mill– 14730 K68 Highway, Louisburg, Kan.

Cost: Free

Description: This festival includes live country or bluegrass music, great food, and a variety of craft booths for anyone, young or old. Visitors can learn how Louisburg Cider Mill’s famous apple cider is made, while enjoying fresh cider, cinnamon donuts and many other treats.

There are also hay rides, a corn maze, farm animals, a pumpkin patch and a children’s activity area. Admission is free, but some activities cost extra.

The Maple Leaf Festival

Date: Oct. 20-21

Location: Baldwin City, Kan. beginning near the intersection of 8th and High St.

Cost: Free

Description: Drive out of town to Baldwin City’s Maple Leaf Festival where there are craft booths as far as the eye can see. Over the course of the weekend, enjoy food and crafts, free country music, a full carnival, a parade, tours, and various shows.
