Hall olympics will test academics, arts, athletics

The first annual Hall Olympics will begin in spring 2011.

Hall Olympics is an RA program to bring three residential halls together. There will be three events held throughout the semester.

There will be one event representing each of the following categories: academics, arts and athletics. There will be a

traveling trophy that will be displayed at the RA desk of the winning dorm until the next event is held. The events

have not yet been determined.

Senior Caj Kueffer is the mastermind behind this new event. He believes that everyone on campus has a competitive

spirit in some area or another.

“Every single resident brings their own individuality and spirit to campus life,” he said.

Sophomore, Adam Henn is an RA in Martin Hall. He is looking forward to seeing how many people are going

to come out and participate and seeing who the winners will be.

“I’m most looking forward to the finale of it, see who can take the prize. See how many people we can get. I think that

would be really cool if we could get a lot,” he said.

Junior Josh Giambalvo will be participating in Hall Olympics.

“I’m most excited about the athletic part of the event,” he said.

Giambalvo said the program will be a good way to develop new friendships and likes the originality of the idea.

“It’s a good way to get active and a good way to interact with others,” he said “It’s a good way to get to know people who you don’t see every day.”

The events will be determined by the RAs. There is a limit on the number of participants.

If there are too many people the RAs will choose the participants by a random drawing.

Since Kueffer will be graduating next Spring it’s up to the other RA’s to carry on the tradition.

“I would like to see this become an Ottawa campus life tradition – making Ottawa’s campus life stand out among other universities,” he said
