OU women’s soccer is rising in the polls.
“We are first in our Conference and we are 38 in the nation,” Lizzie Wilkens, junior, said.
According to Wilkens the team has been practicing daily and staying focused on the field.
“We prepare for our games one at a time; we prepare for the team we are playing the day before,” Wilkens said.
Coach Shaw wants his ladies to do their best, so he has to be strict on them.
“He expects a lot out of us, which I think is good because we need that type of motivation,” Wilkens said.
“He hates when we are late, he makes us run and the longer we’re late the harder the punishment,” Kayla Huitt, freshman, said.
“So we try not to be late, it makes me look bad as a player,” Huitt said.
The Lady Braves travel to Salina to take on the Kansas Weslyan Coyotes next. Conference finishes up with the end of October and then on to play for national chances.
With nationals coming soon the girls believe they are prepared and ready.
“I think we will make it if we keep playing good, we can definitely make it to nationals,” Wilkens said.
