The Ottawa University Choir has begun its preparation for the fall concert and is expecting a good turnout. The concert will be Friday Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the OU chapel. It will consist of three separate choirs.
There have been many changes from last year that has left the choir at a building stage. Last year, the choir was split up with two separate choir conductors, and this year it will be the responsibility of just one.
Professor S'ng Annette Oh, first-year teacher, will show off what she has done with the choir at the concert. Professor Oh is originally from Seoul, Korea and studied graduate and post-graduate programs in London, England. She then went on to receive her master's degree at The University of Kansas and is now working in her final year of her doctorate degree.
"Professor Oh is a great edition to the Ottawa music department and I believe she will help to build the program to how it once was in the past," Sophomore Eric Cordell said.
Oh is expecting endless effort and a lot of good music from her students in her first year.
"We need as much participation as possible and are continually looking for new prospects that want to come join in," Cordell said.
Oh wants a larger number of people for the spring. On April 28, 2007, she will be taking selected students to the Wichita Grand Opera to perform.
Auditions will begin when the spring semester begins.
"Everyone should come on Oct. 13 and enjoy the fun filled evening," Oh said.
